Carbon and Air Quality is one of the pillars within the Games’ Sustainability Pledge and reducing the carbon footprint of the Games’ where possible is a key priority. Spectator travel is the largest proportion of the Games’ carbon footprint and we want to encourage people to use lower-carbon forms of transport where feasible.

Air Quality is also an important focus area, and to reduce the emission of air pollutants we aim to minimise traffic during the Games period by encouraging the use of public transport and active travel.
