Groundworks have begun in the area next to “Allotment Road” (the road between Church Road and the Alexander Stadium), and boundary fencing has been installed around the site.

This is to prepare for the installation of the temporary Pedestrian Screening Area, which will enable security checks to be carried out for spectators before they enter the Stadium during the Games.

The groundworks are expected to be complete by mid to late April 2022 and involve levelling the ground and adding gravel to create a flat surface. Any soil removed will remain on site and will be reinstated when the area returns to parkland after the Games. The green space within the fenced area will be inaccessible until this time.

These works will not impact on any trees.
