The area to the west of the Gymnastics and Martial Arts Centre (between the GMAC and the footpath from the Tame Valley Canal) is being prepared for a temporary compound that will be used for storage for the opening and closing ceremonies. Boundary fencing has been put up around the area, and the area inside the fencing will be inaccessible until it is returned to parkland after the Games. Any soil removed will remain on site.
These works involve levelling the ground and adding gravel to create a flat surface, plus the addition of a temporary gravel route to give small vehicles such as buggies access to the compound. The groundworks are expected to be complete in early April 2022.
