The delivery of Birmingham’s Opening and Closing Ceremonies will require a cast of almost 2,000 volunteer performers across a variety of different roles to help us create spectacular shows that will be watched by a live audience of 40,000 spectators in Alexander Stadium, and a worldwide audience of up to a billion people. 

We are looking for three specific groups of people – individuals aged over 18 who can move to a beat; established West Midlands based choirs to join our Birmingham Ceremonies Mass Choir; and Athlete Hosts aged over 18 who will welcome the Commonwealth athletes and assist with the smooth backstage running of the Athlete’s Parade during the Opening Ceremony.  

Across all the roles, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals willing to contribute their passion, talent, energy and positive spirit to the Ceremonies. Volunteers will be required to give a good deal of time through to rehearsals and the performances, so it is important to think about this time commitment before applying.
