Following auditions, if you have been selected to be a Ceremonies Volunteer Performer, it is expected that you will commit yourself for the period of time that is required for rehearsals, and the Ceremonies themselves.
The shows will be broken down into different segments – each with different rehearsal requirements. You will be sent a rehearsal schedule for the Ceremony and segment in which you have been offered a role.
Rehearsals for the Ceremonies will take place between May and July 2022 for the Opening Ceremony and June to August 2022 for the Closing Ceremony.
There will be approximately 2–4 rehearsals per week on evenings and weekends, with each session lasting up to 4 hours. There will also be a small number of full- day and evening rehearsals held during the three weeks leading up to each Ceremony.
A huge amount of information and instruction will be given at each rehearsal session. If you cannot attend all the rehearsals that you are requested to attend, then unfortunately you will not be able to perform in the Ceremonies.
In exceptional circumstances we may be able to allow Volunteer Performers to miss a rehearsal session if you give advance notice to the Birmingham Ceremonies Team, however missing more than three rehearsals will automatically cancel your role. There will also be some rehearsals marked on the rehearsal schedule as mandatory sessions, missing just one of these will also result in the automatic cancellation of your role. Performer attendance is registered at every rehearsal session.
